Snowfall Warning in effect for:

 

Rankin Region including Whale Cove
 

Strong spring storm to impact southern Kivalliq Friday night into Saturday.

Hazards: Heavy snow and blowing snow with 10 cm accumulation.

Timing: Overnight Friday into Saturday. Conditions improving early Saturday evening.

 

Remarks: A strong low-pressure system approaching from the west will spread heavy snow into Rankin Inlet and Whale Cove beginning overnight Friday. The heavy snow will persist through Saturday afternoon with 10 cm of snowfall accumulation expected by Saturday evening. Strong winds will accompany the falling snow, giving reduced visibilities in blowing snow. The snow will taper off and winds will diminish early Saturday evening and conditions will improve.

 

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

 

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.

Hazardous winter conditions are expected.

Strong spring storm to impact southern Kivalliq Friday night into Saturday.

Hazards: Freezing rain, heavy snow with up to 10 cm accumulation, strong wind gusts possibly in excess of 80 km/h.

Timing: Overnight Friday into Saturday. Conditions improving Saturday evening.

 

Remarks: A strong low-pressure system approaching from the west will spread an area of freezing rain into Arviat Saturday morning. The freezing rain may be heavy at times, accumulating on surfaces, and may result in power outages. Saturday afternoon, the freezing rain will transition to heavy snow. Strong winds will accompany the falling snow giving reduced visibilities in blowing snow.
